One of the two Greek words used for ‘watching’ is Archmorium which means to be circumspect or pay attention to happenings around us. It is very important for us to develop the capacity to scan things and happenings around us.

The end times started the day Jesus resurrected from the dead. The day of the Lord can be like a snare for those who are not watchful. Many believers are fond of praying without being watchful. Only people that have advanced information will escape the danger ahead.

Jesus is coming back; there is no controversy about it. We need advance information and grace to be prayerful and watchful. Prosperity and ease can be very dangerous to our souls because they can distract us from praying and watching.

In the days of Noah, people were doing business and partying away until the floods came upon them and it was too late to escape into Noah’s Ark. They failed to watch, like the five foolish virgins who failed to take extra oil. The wise virgins had extra mile spending more money and exerting more efforts to get it.

1 Peter 4:7

Watching requires soberness- being given to details, being aware of the craftiness and setups of the devil. The devil is not an idiot, he is very strategic. He gets people out of track bit by bit. He is never in a hurry to lure us out of our safe place.

Genesis 4:7

Cain was warned by God to be careful of the deception of Satan knocking at the door of his heart, but he did not pay attention. We must be very careful of the thoughts and desires that run through our hearts because they can easily get us out of track.

Revelation 22:7-16

You cannot be recognised by God nor his angels if you do not keep his commandment or obey his instructions. A heart that does not love righteousness nor hate iniquity is in a dangerous position.
