In the history of man, no one had previously been called and commissioned by God in such a manner as Abraham. God dealt with the others before him individually, but to him was given the privilege to pioneer a walk. For whatever reason, Noah, Enoch and the many others were not chosen to do this. Only he (Abraham) was called the father of many nations. It was written of him that he believed God and to him, it was counted as righteousness.
One important thing to note is that being part of the Levite family only made one a potential priest. This means that not everyone born a Levite would eventually become a priest. Tithe is a name, not a number. It is another name for tribute- that is, to show gratitude, praise and appreciation.

This is where the issue lies: the source of tithes is important and must be looked into. God is not a tax master. Jesus also rebuked the Pharisees for paying attention to just tithes and leaving out the weightier things.

Melchizedek is not just a type of Christ, he was also an antitype of Christ (that is, a shadow). These ministering spirits appear in many dimensions even in human form. He gave unto Abraham bread and wine which symbolizes strength and joy.
Payment is a debt. Tithe is not a debt- it is given freely, not out of compulsion. You don’t pay tithes. You give tithes. It is an aspect of gratitude- giving honour unto God.
