THE MELCHIZEDEK ORDER OF PRIESTHOOD (Part 4)

The elementary principles of the word of God are at best Old Testament teachings that are to usher is into the New Testament. The Book of Hebrews was written to Hebrew Christians who were very conversant with the elementary teachings of God’s kingdom.

When we have been enlightened, tasted the good word of God and handled the power of the world to come, going back is a sentence unto perdition.

Anyone who does not make perfection the object of his faith is in danger. There are better things than elementary things. Those better things are summed up in perfection. Our work and labour of love that we show towards God’s name are capable of bringing us and others into perfection.

There will always be reasons not to do good works but we must never hold back, God always remembers them. God can reward our good works in quite unthinkable ways. We are in order if we are expectant of rewards when we obey God’s commandments.

Perfection is about inheriting the promise through faith and patience which require us to be hopeful. You cannot walk by faith if you have no hope. Patience is facilitated by hope. The hope of perfection should constantly run our lives.

Paul was running his life aimlessly initially but Christ Jesus apprehended him so that he could apprehend Him. We have been captured by Christ so that we can pursue Him and ultimately become like Him. The prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus is perfection. Our hope is God’s promise of perfection. The hope is an anchor for our souls which keeps us steadfast and sure even while the billows role.

The Law of Moses made nothing perfect but the New Testament was able to show us the possibility of perfection. If we must be perfect, we must always approach boldly the throne of Grace. We cannot get to the throne without our High Priest Jesus Christ.

Whenever we need mercy we should always remember we have a High Priest that is touched by our infirmities. He has all it takes to represent us perfectly having been through our very challenges.

[biblegateway passage=”ROMANS 15:15,16″ display=”ROMANS 15:15,16″]; [biblegateway passage=”HEBREWS 8:6-13″ display=”HEBREWS 8:6-13″]; [biblegateway passage=”HEBREWS 7:11″ display=”HEBREWS 7:11″]; [biblegateway passage=”2 CORINTHIANS 3:3″ display=”2 CORINTHIANS 3:3″]

The Ministry of the Gospel is a priestly work. A minister of Christ is a dispenser of Christ to people. He administers Christ to men. Such a minister brings men unto Christ. Men are offerings unto God through the instrumentality of the High Priest.

Mercy is not given until the law of the Lord is put in our minds and it is written in our hearts. Real mercy is far beyond God’s mercy that is available to all men.

Writings cannot take place in our hearts until there is a fertile ground for the word of God. When the word of God has been duly etched on our hearts, we become acceptable sacrifices unto Him. The Melchizedek priesthood is the sure fire solution to the problem of imperfection since the Levitical Priesthood failed to bring men into perfection.
