KNOWING AND DOING GOD’S WILL

PASTOR EMMANUEL DANSU

One of the biggest problems we have as believers is that we are either ignorant of God’s will or we really don’t care about it. The extent to which we will journey with God will be determined by how much of His will we know and do.

[biblegateway passage=”EPHESIANS 5:15-17 ” display=”EPHESIANS 5:15-17 “]

To walk circumspectly is to make decisions putting every fact into consideration. Walking circumspectly precludes rashness.

To redeem the time is to make wise and sacred use of every opportunity for doing good, so that zeal and well doing are as it were the purchase money by which we make the time our own. +It is foolish to be ignorant of the will of God because it is by it that we live life to the fullest. God only derives pleasure from our lives when we do His will.

The will of God is not all about getting a marriage partner, it about every aspect of our lives.

The reasoning and calculations of man are almost always inimical to the will of God. Some human notions that oppose God’s will in marriage: Rash decisions about timing and spouse’s status, age, physical features and background.

[biblegateway passage=”PROVERBS 20:5; 27 ” display=”PROVERBS 20:5; 27 “]

You cannot know God’s will when you don’t hear Him. So, you need constant fellowship with Him. The spirit of man needs constant illumination by the Holy Spirit in order to search out the deep things of God. A man of understanding and discretion is the one that knows God’s will and does it.

[biblegateway passage=”JOB 32:8 ” display=”JOB 32:8 “]

The Holy Spirit inspires the human spirit in order to discern God’s will. We have to set aside our human inclinations if we must do God’s will. You cannot do God’s will when your mind is made up in your own ways.

God’s will becomes easier to know and do if you have a sincere heart. A man with idols in his heart can hardly hear God.

[biblegateway passage=”JUDE 1:20,21 ” display=”JUDE 1:20,21 “]

Speaking in tongues helps to build us up in God’s will and keeps us in the will of God. When you are confused or afraid about a decision, keep praying and searching until you figure out God’s will about it.
