PASTOR SOLA OGIDAN
Enoch is not even an accurate prototype of immortality; Jesus is. Enoch did not overcome death; he was translated and just escaped death. Although, the experience was a beautiful one too. The gospel is the only power that gives us victory over sin and death in the Flesh. God intends to perfect us in the Flesh and not translate us then perfect us.
The reason why God cannot sin is because the life and nature in him is righteousness. The summary of the entire gospel is that God promises to put his laws into us. [[biblegateway passage=”Hebrews 10:16″ display=”Hebrews 10:16″]]
1 Timothy 3:16
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
We have hope because he who overcame and sits on the throne is man. The mystery of Godliness was that God was manifest in the flesh. This is this testimony that Jesus destroyed the Devil while in the Flesh.
[biblegateway passage=”1 John 4:1-3″ display=”1 John 4:1-3″]
John 1:14
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
The flesh is a limitation for the Spirit. The Word was not flesh, it was made flesh. Jesus first death was putting on Flesh. His Spirit was contained in the flesh. Jesus put on flesh so that he can become like us. The testimony is that even in the flesh, he overcame; and this is the testimony the gospel wants us to experience.
1 Peter 4:1
“Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;”
It is not about suffering the flesh it is suffering in the flesh. The sufferings were not the tortures Jesus had. The sufferings is not experiencing hunger. The hunger is meant to put me in a condition to walk with God.
Romans 8:3
“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:”
The fact that we are in the flesh puts us in a disadvantage. The law is not weak in itself. The law is even Spiritual, but when the law was given to a man in the flesh, it became weak because of the weakness of the flesh. Jesus condemned sin in the flesh, and this is His testimony.
What God would not do, he would not promise it. Jesus is the pattern and as the first born of the brethren means that God intends to bring us also into this testimony.
The beginning of this process is the Faith in this promises and then this brings the hope for the realities to come unto us. But, do we really believe the words that are being spoken? God is not trying to take us out of the flesh and perfect us. That is not the testimony, the testimony is that in the flesh we overcame. There is a spirit that governs the flesh, the flesh is not our physical body.
Many people says that as long as we are in the flesh we cannot be perfect, but that is wrong. The gospel says otherwise.
Even our mortal body would be quickened with life from our Spirit. The gospel has not ran it full course if it has not yet began work in our flesh. When Adam ate the fruit of the tree of good and evil corruption took over and the law of sin and death stepped into his Flesh, Spirit and Soul. This is exactly what the gospel wants to override so that righteousness can step into our Spirit, Soul and Flesh.
We are not told to destroy our foundations but we cannot continue to live in them. The roof would also never do the work of Salvation. One way to receive from God is to ask. There is a tendency for us to spin off some certain things like Faith towards God in asking calling it milk or elementary teachings.
No principle in the scripture negates each other. There is an issue around us, but we don’t know what the Lord is saying.
We should be able to discern the Lord in situations, we should trust God and submit to His Process.
If we don’t leave really, we cannot go on. Many of us do not really have proper experience of the milk. There is more that the Lord wants to do. We need to know that there are responsibilities and burdens for perfection. There is always a place for bearing.
Hebrews 12:7
“If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?”
God will make us perfect, but it cannot be without our corporation. Maturity is when we begin to release our rights to God and trust Him
Many times we are sincere with God, but it takes more than that. We can be willing and not ready. Peter was willing but not ready to follow Jesus.
