PASTOR OLUWASEYI OSANYINBI
The gospel is the only means of bringing us to perfection. There is no other programme or plan. If Jesus had entered corruption through sin, the plan of salvation would have been eternally over. All through the scriptures, it was shown clearly that the Old Testament could not save men.
The New Testament is supposed to drive the Jews to Christ, because the Old Testament that they were under was not sufficient to bring us into perfection at all because of the weakness of people.
Jesus did not come to destroy the Law, instead he came to fulfill it. Jesus was being made perfect after His resurrection. Even though, throughout his years on earth there was no error in Him, he still needed to grow into perfection.
Jesus in the flesh could have sinned because he was subject to temptations, but there was a working within Him that makes Him say no to sin. If Jesus could be tempted, it means it was possible for Him to sin. However, God is eternally saved, so he cannot commit sin. He does not tempt any body to sin and cannot be tempted with sin.

Hebrews 7:19
“For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.”
The intention of God was to make man perfect. The law came with penalties. That was why the ministry of the priesthood was raised for dealing with the weaknesses and infirmities of the people.
Hebrews 10:3
“But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.”
The Old Testament’s way of dealing with people was with the laws and Priesthood. But, the problem is that the Priests themselves commit sins and therefore could not properly mediate the Testament.
[biblegateway passage=”Hebrews 8:1-6″ display=”Hebrews 8:1-6″]
Paul was making a comparison between two priesthood in the Old and the New Testament. The Old Testament Covenant actually began with Abraham and then became elaborated on Mount Sinai.
A more excellent ministry, a better covenant and better promises was received through the New Testament. Churches today are still contending for the promises of Abraham while Jesus brought better promises.
2 Peter 1:4
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
If it were possible for Enoch who did not have any Testament and he walked with God. How about us with better and a more excellent promises.
Hebrews 8:10
”For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:”
[biblegateway passage=”Romans 8:1-3″ display=”Romans 8:1-3″]
1 Corinthians 15:55
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”
The power of sin is the law and the power of death is sin. Jesus could not have died if the sins of man were not inputted into Him.
The physical appearance of Jesus torturing simply showed what sin does internally in a man. Even the Israelites wanted to really obey the Law, but the law of sin and death makes them to do otherwise.
Hebrews 8:10
“And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.”
After the writing of the laws of God in our heart, no man would need to tell us to Know God. The writing of the law is simply the work of the Holy Ghost. Perfection is impossible without the Holy Ghost.
[biblegateway passage=”Galatians 3:13-14″ display=”Galatians 3:13-14″]
To discard the Old Testament, someone needed to have fulfilled it. Jesus fulfilled it and then died. Then He was able to usher us into the New Testament.
[biblegateway passage=”Hebrews 9:8-14″ display=”Hebrews 9:8-14″]
A man’s conscience is not only the voice of the Spirit. New birth actually takes effect in the conscience. The order of the Aaronic priesthood entered once a year into the Holy Place, but that could not make the conscience perfect. The operation of Jesus the new High Priest did.
Hebrews 9:10
“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
Dead works originally emanates from their conscience. The flesh is the conscience. The blood of Jesus works on our conscience. When we become born again, the conscience begins to be worked upon. The flesh producing dead works is the conscience. A man can be anointed with the Holy Ghost and his conscience
Aaron’s high priest operation is to cover sins, but Jesus’ high priest operation is to purge and overcome sins. The Holy Ghost as the seed of God in you would not push you to sin.
The new testament does not exempt you from the fulfillment of the law. But, we are not to obey the rituals of the law anymore. Jesus had fulfilled this already. The law that Paul said we are not under anymore is not Moses’ Law.
1 John 1:7
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
Romans 8:14
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
We have to let the Holy Ghost take it course in us. The leading of the Holy Ghost is meant to bring us into son ship. This is the primary work of the Holy Ghost. The anointing and the gifts of the Holy Ghost are secondary. The Holy Ghost is our comforter not by providing our needs. He has a way of pushing us to perfection through chastisement and disciplines. He knows the mind of the Father for us. That is the reason why we cannot pray as we ought to pray.
