Eternal Judgment

It is necessary that we all bear it in mind that we have a date with God; a day when we will come before God and give account of how we lived our lives. The Bible in Hebrews 6:1-2 mentioned six (6) foundational doctrines, (known as the doctrines of Christ) and the last on the list is eternal judgment. The doctrine of eternal judgment talks about God being the ultimate judge. However, the way many people live their lives shows that they have not come to terms with the fact that one day they will stand before God to give account of how they lived.

If in the natural we make reasonable preparation for our journey, how come we do not prepare for our journey to eternity? Maybe because we still do not understand the danger of hell. Many still do not believe that hell is real but it is. We all pray to live long but not everyone eventually does. However, whether we live long or not, we must ensure that we live acceptably because we will be brought into judgment (Ecclesiastes 11:9)

Luke 16:19 – 31

It is not necessarily true that our position in life is an indicator of whether God is pleased with us or not. In this story were two personalities, one rich and the other poor. We do not know what made the rich man rich or why Lazarus was poor but they had contact while they were on earth and the rich man did nothing to help Lazarus, the poor man. Now they both died, and Lazarus was welcomed to paradise in grand style and taken to Abraham’s bosom while the rich man opened his eyes and found himself in hell, in so much torments.

We must understand that Hell is a place of unending torments. There is no repentance in hell. It is only while you are still alive that you can repent. In hell, the rich man kept crying out for mercy but it was too late. He requested that someone be sent to his brothers from the dead to convince them that hell is real but his request was not granted. You may have heard preaching in the bus, you have heard morning cries, people may have approached you and talked to you about Christ, so you will not have the excuse that you never heard. You may think you are being disturbed by being preached to but later you will understand it was the best thing that could have been done to you.

What is preventing you from escaping from the hell beneath? What is holding you back that you find it difficult to break away from? It is high time you put out all that is causing you to sin and make up your mind to live right (Matthew 5:29). If you have backslidden, you need to return back to God. Never join the people who say God is too loving to put anyone in the pain of hell. Remember He is a righteous judge. Truly God is loving but He is also a consuming fire.
