- A common question being asked by many in the today is ‘why is there is no power, no revival and no growth in the church’? Despite the fact that we are children of a better covenant, there are still not enough signs to show forth. The truth is that there is still an operation of unbelief in our hearts.
- Stepping into the supernatural requires us to step out even at the possibilities of being disgraced. We need to stop asking ourselves “what if it does not happen?” and expecting the outcome of the case of it happening.
Acts 4: 32
- Self-centeredness is one of the reasons why we don’t see signs and wonders happen in our midst. We are so caring for ourselves and our reputation.
- The primary and focal thing the Apostles preached was the Lordship and resurrection of Jesus. The revelation of this truth was what made the name of Jesus to be effective when they made use it. Likewise, if we have a revelation of the Lordship and the resurrection of Jesus, the name of Jesus would wreak mighty power.
- God had placed treasures in earthen vessels (2Corinthians 4:7). He has given us all that pertains to life and godliness (2Peter 1:3). Having all of these, we ought to participate in the work of God. God is not going to sovereignly make us faithful vessels, it is our responsibility.
- A witness must be credible, faithful to the message and have an understanding of the subject matter. We were not eyewitnesses of the resurrection of Jesus as the Apostles were, but we have received reports from credible sources. Much more than credible reports passed down generations from the Apostles unto ours, what empowers the witnessing that we do is that power that goes with it (Acts 14:3).
- • In Matthew 28:8a, Jesus instructed His disciples, is to go out into the world and preach to it the gospel of the kingdom. Therefore, it suffices to say that we would not normally see the demonstration of power until we step out and get out of our comfort zone.
- • This demonstration of the power of resurrection during witnessing is a partnership thing. We have been instructed to open our mouth and God has promised to fill it with His words (Psalm 81:10). We have been instructed to lay our hands and men will be healed by God. Our responsibility is to step out while God’s responsibility is to heal them.
- • It is also important to pay attention to how miracles are done. Scriptures called it working of miracles. So we need to learn the techniques of how it is done. We have been equipped for witnessing and we cannot appropriate and make use of the equipping if we don’t step out.
- • Lastly, it is important that we have holy ambitions (thirst and hunger) to demonstrate the power to give credible witness to the resurrection of Jesus. It is no use speaking about the power of the resurrection without power to demonstrate it.
