NUMBERS 13:1-17,30
There is something in man that always wants to know what tomorrow holds. That is why many people consult media and patronize prophets. However, God in His unfathomable wisdom only gives us sufficient information for the next move rather than all the information we will ever need. We need to have the capacity to overcome the fear of the future. This is only possible when we learn to trust wholly in God.
When God told Moses to lead His people to the Land of Canaan, He did not tell him the size of the giants they would encounter in the land. He only told them that the land was flowing with milk and honey so that they will not freak out. We must get used to the fact that God will never commission us to do what is within our capacity. If He commissions us to do something, we will need Him every step of the way.
A big problem we always make when we encounter challenges is that we always measure ourselves with our problems rather than thinking about the God who commissioned us. Any challenge that comes your way is your measure, just draw from the resources God has made available unto you to face it ([biblegateway passage=”I Corinthians 10:13″ display=”I Corinthians 10:13″]).
NUMBERS 14:17-24; HEBREWS 12:2
We must learn to face our fears and take on the future with all boldness and courage in spite of the terrors on the way. Even when Jesus told his disciples to ‘go to the other side’, there were problems on the way ([biblegateway passage=”Mark 4:35-41″ display=”Mark 4:35-41″]). There will always be frightening challenges but we must never back down once God gives us instruction. We need to get enough faith to keep going until we get to our destination.
The spies Moses sent to Canaan had discouraging fear apart from Caleb and Joshua. These two unassuming great men were different because they knew the promise of God and they held unto it. The Bible recorded that Caleb had a different kind of spirit. Just like him, we must never allow fear paralyze us.
The principle of the walk of faith is that we see victory at the end even from the beginning. That perspective will give us hope and we will be able to weather the storms on the way. Faith is not just speaking in tongues; it is the capacity to wait taking your stand until the victory is won. In the New Testament, we are not required to fight with swords and arrows. We have a mandate to fight by taking our stand against the onslaught of the Enemy. The Devil’s ultimate goal is to lure us out of our place of refuge under the shadow of the Almighty and we must never give him a chance.
