Darkness

Text: Isaiah 45:7

Minister: Pastor Seyi Osanyinbi

God created light and darkness for His purposes. From Genesis 1:3, God did not like the fact that darkness was in control and so he had to call forth light. From John 1, we were made to understand that light has always been in existence and the experience in Genesis 1 shows that the best way to combat darkness is to shine the light.

2 Corinthians 4:4-6

We see that God called light out of darkness; the original intention was to foretell what was going to happen in the future. Just like a seed planted in a wrong soil won’t be able to germinate properly, satan can never prosper in light because he has been degraded from the sphere of light to darkness. The devil finds full expression in darkness.

Matthew 4:16

Many people are seated in darkness but they do not know. It is important we learn how to deal with darkness so that we can make progress consistently. Not knowing how to deal with darkness is a function of ignorance. After salvation, one important thing we must be able to do is to deal with darkness. This is the reason why Paul prayed that our eyes be enlightened. We must desire sight to see.

Darkness can be used for judgement like we see in the plagues in Egypt.

2 Corinthians 6:14

Relating with people should be with wisdom and understanding. You cannot afford to allow just anyone in your cycle; it is important you are discerning enough to identify darkness. Paul instructed in Ephesians 5:11 that we must have nothing to do with darkness. We must readily expose darkness whenever we see one.

Colossians 1:13

As believers, we were once ‘darkness’ and Jesus translated us into light. We must know and understand that every kingdom has its constitution and rules which must be strictly followed. Salvation automatically enlisted us to combat darkness (Ephesians 6:12) and we have been equipped with great weapons which are not carnal.
