JOHN 7:37-38(KJV): “37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water”;
EPHESIANS 5:18(KJV): “18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit”
As we thirst for the living water, we must learn to go to Jesus and drink of Him. The intention of God for us is that we might drink of Him and that which we might have drunk will intoxicate us so much that it flows out of our bellies as a river of living waters. The only way we can identify with the plans of God is through the Holy Spirit. The only thing Jesus left for us when He was leaving the earth was the Holy Spirit. That means we have a lot to learn about the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is always present in every move of God. He is a Person not a mere manifestation of God or a force. He is the Custodian of all God does. Without the Holy Spirit, no angel will come down to the earth. When the Holy Spirit leaves the earth, God leaves. He is the One that is still preventing the man of sin, the Antichrist from invading the earth. The departure of the Holy Spirit from the earth is what will make some people call upon God without getting answer.
ZECHARIAH 4:6(KJV) :“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of theLord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.”;
ACTS 1:8 (KJV): “8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
The Spirit of God is the Executor of His agenda. Power and might pale into insignificance when the Holy Spirit is in charge. By sending His Spirit on the earth, God sent all that He had. It was tantamount to sending His Only Begotten Son. The Acts of the Apostles should really be the Acts of the Holy Spirit. Those acts serve as the entrance into the Epistles. If we are partaking of the Holy Spirit and we are still mere people it means something is really wrong with us. No one can take concentrated alcohol without getting taken over by it. We have to retrace our steps out of our current docility by embracing the Holy Spirit indeed. We have to become more desperate in pursuing the Lord. We have to constantly be on fire for Him. All that is only made possible when we work in sync with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the dispenser of the power of God. We receive power when He comes upon us. The power is to make us witnesses starting from our immediate environment (Jerusalem) and then we progress till we reach the uttermost parts of the earth. We are not reaching out probably because we do not understand the value of what we have. We must come to terms with what we have been endowed with and operate accordingly. We must stand up and come to terms with the purpose for which we have been apprehended. We must stop being complacent and live up to the purpose for which we have been apprehended.
