A Life That Overcomes

In this text, we understand Apostle John desires to portrait Jesus Christ as God, who was with the Father at the creation (Gen 1:26).  John in his gospel engaged several images to buttresse Jesus Christ as the true life in which all must have.  He explained on how Jesus offered the menu of life unto Jews through the imagery of water and blood. However the Jews did not understand Jesus message hence they refused the menu.

The most dreadful thing to man is death. Through the scripture, we know that law, sin and death are interrelated.  Sin entered when the law was introduced.   Though, before the law, there was sin.  Sin was not known as sin until the law.  Also, death is the product of sin.  However, the end of the law is Christ.   Christ is the fulfilment of law.  Every man who is in Christ therefore, overcomes sin and death.

There is a life that surpasses and transcends existence, and if a man exists without this life, he is as good as dead.  Through this life, can the death be overcome.

Jesus engaged several objects in which man cannot do without them,  to depict himself as the most essential need of man.

The first image Jesu engaged to depict himself is Light  ([biblegateway passage=”1 John 1:4″ display=”1 John 1:4″])

Every man whether saved or unsaved requires light to see. There is light of the sun and there is light of man.  The two are very important to humans.  Jesus is the light of life and through his light is the life of man springs forth.  The life of Christ in you, is the grace to overcome death.  Anyone who is ignorant of this life, lives in darkness.

The second thing Christ engaged to depict himself is water.

Water is naturally important for human living.  All without exception have used water for one thing or the others.  As significant as water is to us so is Christ more important person in our lives.

*  Another images are flesh and blood.  As flesh cannot do without blood, or blood withou flesh so is the importance of Jesus life to us.

[biblegateway passage=”John 6:55″ display=”John 6:55″] In this passage Jesus engaged flesh and blood as the Old and New Testament which are critical to our growth.  Though the Old Testament saints ate flesh in the wilderness.  However, the New Testament saints have the flesh and blood, depicting the Old and the New Testament for eternal life.

[biblegateway passage=”Luke 12:16-20″ display=”Luke 12:16-20″]

Having possession isn’t the image of life, possessions counts little. Your life is hidden in Christ. If you don’t have Christ, you have missed it all.

You may not have anything, but once you have Christ you have life. Having him you have everything. Don’t let this slip from you ([biblegateway passage=”Matthew 6:33″ display=”Matthew 6:33″]). Let no situation and circumstances defile Christ in you.

The major aim of the devil is to take away that life in you. Once that has been achieved, death prevails ([biblegateway passage=”John 10:10″ display=”John 10:10″]).

Man overcomes by the Word of God which is in him. Any believer that doesn’t take the Word of God as important or paramount is on his\her way to defeat. The Word of God is sufficient. This is the life that overcomes.
